Post Langan, Mod4 and my very brief sojourn at ARN

I've noticed that there is some overlap between the ARN readership/membership and the infidels board, so, in my frustration, I thought I'd register and post this here.

I recently registered at ARN. I only managed three posts before running afoul of the infamous mod4.

In the thread Geometry = Logic? Not Exactly, Adrian Melott and Chris Langan continued their ongoing flamefest, eventually leading Langan to quote Dirty Harry, and to make some rather ironic comments on the significance of predictive power in scientific theories. I posted something like the following:

Quote:
The Pixie: If Chris Langan chooses not to respond, that it his choice, but I feel it will look rather as though his theory fails to meet his own specifications.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you.

"Did he fire six shots or only five?" I don't know, but I think Chris has shot at least one of those bullets right into his own foot, and etched upon it was the following quote:

"The problem with quantum mechanics is not what it can predict, but what it can’t predict, and any scientist worth a pinch of salt knows this. For example, it can’t predict single events with any accuracy or reliability at all, and that’s a pretty big debit for a 'scientific' theory purporting to say something about causality."

Does the CTMU purport to say something about causality? It most certainly does - so can the CTMU predict single events with any accuracy or reliability at all?
I say that I posted "something like" this, because I'm reproducing it from memory. I no longer have access to the original post; it disappeared down the memory hole within minutes after I posted it. Mod4 zapped my post and we had a brief PM exchange. I won't reproduce his PM's without permission, but the conversation was as follows:

Mod4: (Claims that I am off-topic for the thread, claims that ARN policy prohibits people from being "pestered" into answering questions they don't want to answer and informs me that he has deleted my post.)

Me: With all due respect, Chris introduced the subject himself. Why don't you replace the post and let Chris decide whether or not he chooses to respond? If he does not, I will not press the matter further.

Mod4: (Claims that Chris has already been challenged and that my post "added nothing." Claims that additional requests will look like badgering.)

Me: I think we both know that Langan shot himself in the foot, and by providing damage-control on his behalf you've clearly transgressed your obligation as an objective moderator. This board is really quite ridiculous. You may feel free to unregister me.

Add my name to the list of those supporting a boycott of that forum. It's patently obvious that they are not interested in anything even remotely resembling a fair and honest discussion.

Indeed. Mod4 (aka 'Jazzraptor') has a history of using 'moderation' as a debate winner. When I was posting there - after being banned and re-allowed - a few IDiots were angry. Some of them, including Jazzraptor who is now also Mod4, began a campaign of harrassment, annoying the crap out of me until I responded in kind, then whingin to their IDiot brethren moderators that I was violating board rules.

I was later banned again for not heaping accolades on a deceased IDiot, and I have it on good authority (the moderator that banned me) that it was in large part due to a series of PMs he had received form IDiots...

Imagine that...

Somebody must have made a false accusation against Josef K., for he was censored one morning without having done anything wrong.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I hope the ending is a bit happier than the original.

Sorry. Perhaps the following transliteration will be more to your liking:

I found your literary allusion quite amusing!

A remarkably disturbing intimation! But, of course, it's all in good fun!

It's now widely known that it was Simmone who had been telling lies about Josef K.

But perhaps it depends on the translation!
