*shrug* IMO, the nice guy/bad boy dichotomy is about as useful as the virgin/slut dichotomy for women. Neither dichotomy is totally false -- I'm sure we all know people who fit one or the other extreme to a tee -- but most people fall somewhere in between the two extremes, with a mix of nice/bad or virgin/slut. "A lady in the living room and a whore in the bedroom," so to speak.

And, we're not really identifying what "nice" and "bad" mean -- I've seen seemingly nice, passive guys indulge in passive aggression, and that's not a Nice thing to do. Conversely, I've had loud, brash guys back off and show me respect and even become my friends. What does it mean to be nice?

I'm not really discounting evo psych, I think it can be helpful in identifying general trends, but I also think we're risking painting with a really broad brush here.

As for the bad guy or good guy thing. Women want a man to know when to be a bad boy and to be a good boy, so you better learn how to read their minds.
