Default "From the many one" vs "In god we trust"

Which of these mottos is divisive and which is inclusive? Which personifies a freedom loving democratic people and which represents just one point of view?

Comments?

Nothing else to add, really.

I do wish they would remove either one or the other from our money, though. E pluribus unum should NOT be on the same money as IGWT. The first implies that our nation is a great mixture of a diverse people. The second implies that only that only the people who do trust in GAWD count. They are mutually exclusive, IMHO.

Hell, it might as well say people who dont believe in god should leave this country cuz you arent welcome here anymore.

so e pluribus unum is much, much better.

I agree Beyelzu. If you aren’t a god believer, "In god we trust" does make you wonder if you fit in. I am very sure that this was not the intent of the founding fathers. I suspect that even the Christian founding fathers would find the motto distasteful.

Just what kind of freedom loving democracy are we talking about, here, anyway?

The one that uses "In god we trust" as a motto.

I am curious .... Is not posting such a question in this enviorment (Internet Infidels) a bit like doing a taste test to see how many kids like spinach over ice cream.
