fail-proof tactic
Here's what you do...
At every opportunity use his\ her exact same argument against them by replacing God with fairies, gremlins, woodland nymphs, or other non-existent spooky stuff, Satan(evil as Supreme) works well for an added kick. You'll be feeding him his arguments while he sits there and tries to refute them himself... either he'll give up, run into the fundy hole, or kill you after he realizes you could destroy his feeble little world. |

To refute the Christian's statement one needs to identify what ancient works are more accurate than the Bible and why. I do not say that I necessarily agree with the Christian's statement, but I would like to know why others dismiss it without addressing it in detail. Quote:
I am curious because your posts seem rather unnecessarily emotional... |

I'll guarantee you one thing, Keyser. Derogatorily labeling them "fundies" and dismissing their arguments out of hand without making them think hard about the issues they raise will not do anything other than make them mad so that they retreat further into dogmatism. If you don't believe me, then throw some of these remarks at a KJV Christian and see how he reacts.
I know many fundamentalists and I do not feel that they are any more violent or immoral than non-Christians I know. If you are nice to them, they will more than likely be nice to you. Some (on either side of the philosophical fence) will never be nice to anyone. |

The book titled 101 Myths of the Bible is an excellent source for research into Biblical mythology. I highly recomend it!

join in general mirth
So what you're saying is that this person really and truly believes (among other things) that a guy named Noah built a boat, and got on to the boat 2 of each and every species of then living animal, and then this person's God made it rain and rain and rain until all the other people besides Noah's family and all the other animals besides those pairs died, and then it stopped raining, and Noah landed his boat in Armenia, and let all the animals out, and all of species of animals now in the world are descended from those animals, and all of the people are descended from Noah's family?
If this person seriously and literally believes this, he doesn't need reasoned discourse, he needs medication. Now excuse me while I join SLD ROFLMAO. Rene |
