Post The Godless Gospel

I have just read a book called the <a href="http://www.plutoaustralia.com/db/169.html" target="_blank">"Godless Gospel"</a> by a secular Jew Dick Gross.
It's a good read.
It asks and answers interesting questions like:
Can you be good without God?
How do we understand creation?
Is there a place for shared rituals?
What is the point of suffering?
How do I cope with death?
Is there a meaning in our existence?

Thanks for the link. After reading the blurb from Pluto Press, I don't think I'll order the book. I feel no need to replace the comforts that Christianity was supposed to give me and no attraction at all to ritual. Indeed, rituals always strike me as awkward and silly. Think about it next time you see a man wearing a dress incensing a book, then solemnly opening it and intoning "The Gospel of our Lord according to St. Matthew..." and people ritually responding, "Glory to thee, Lord Christ." Every time I see this, I can't help thinking, "Just read the goddamn passage. If it's important enough to listen to, people will listen."
