To get back to the original question, this does not show that Jesus knew anything about time zones, because the words belong to the person who wrote the Gospel of Luke. The origin of this parable is in Q, but the original does not have anything about anyone lying in bed - compare Matthew 24:40-41. (Not all versions of Luke have the third verse of the men working in the field.)

From Helms, Who Wrote the Gospels? p.71

Quote:
In her report of the sayings of Jesus, Luke somtimes seems to be making a sly feminist joke, as in her version of this saying from source Q shared with Matthew: "I tell you, on that night there will be two men in one bed; one will be taken, the other left. There will be two women together grinding corn; one will be taken, the other left" (Luke 12-34-34). This is subtly different from Matthew's version: "Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken the other left; two women grinding at the mill; one will be taken, the other left" (Matt 24:40-41) It is typical of Luke's sense of humor to show the men in bed while the women work.
This is not necessarily a feminist joke. The idea that women work while men play or rest is a common theme in folk culture.
