Post NCSE Debunks More Discovery Institute Quote Mining

The Discovery Institute sent a bibliography to the members of the board of education in Ohio. NCSE found that it just more quote mining.

I have read comments by the scientists misrepresented in the interpretations of their work by the DI. Several said, "This is [the kind of tactic] we've come to expect from the Discovery Institute," and they all said contrary to the DI's assertions, their work (a) did not support intelligent design; and (b) did not challenge evolutionary theory, in fact, added to the knowledge of evolutionary theory.

<a href="http://www.arn.org/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=14;t=000036" target="_blank">Yes</a>. There is some major league twisting and squirming underway.

Furthermore, in correspondence with the Ohio SBOE members, here's what one member of the Ohio Academy of Science had to say about the Discovery Institute and its "ID bibiography":

"Scientists working at any
reputable institute would be investigated for academic
misconduct and blacklisted by granting agencies for doing
what the Discovery Institute has done with this document."

Ah ha! Proof that the scientific orthodoxy will squelch any original ideas that go against the received dogma of Darwinism. Even those researchers who publish data that clearly refutes the doctrinal group-think must tow the line or lose their funding and reputations. ... Or something like that.

That ARN board is a hoot. The ID'ers are getting absolutely thrashed by a mere handfull of people own their own home turf.

It is revealing that the DI could not let these scientists speak for themelves--instead, it had to feed their words through a quote-mining lens to make a dishonest point.

When is the DI going to realize that this kind of disingenuousness just makes them look like cheap hucksters?

Cheers,

KC

And to think the (ex-)ARNies here are harping on how 'embarrassed' I should be for being 'banned' from that place. Amusing...
