Life is short and most people failed to see through the delusion of living for the sake of living.

That is for you to figure out. Knowing your meaning and purpose would just spoil it.

It's sad, and most people don't want to hear it, but there is no meaning to life, at least not one that would make us happy knowing what it is.
We're just highly evolved animals that think too much. So much that we think there must be a purpose for us being here. If you want a meaning to life, i guess i can give you "to reproduce", sad though, because what's the purpose of making babies? so those little babies can grow up and have little babies of their own, so that THOSE little babies can grow up and have babies of THEIR own... and so on |

It's true to an extent that there is no 'external' meaning to our lives. Some take this as depressing, but I take it to mean that the purpose for our lives is whatever we make it. Search for yourself. Think, learn, and be happy.

To crush one's enemies
Drive them before you And hear the lamentations of their women. |

It's 42 silly.
Actually i think the question is wrong. Even from a theistic perspective. If God exists for example, then the purpose (or role i suppose) of ones life may not neccesarily be the same as someone elses, even if their actions have long lasting & ultimate consequences. If God ain't around then there is no ultimate purpose to anything and meaning is "What we make it?" Which some would argue is just like "pretending" but i don't know. If i had to take a stab at a near universal "meaning of life" i'd say for most people it's love. I get most of my happyness from being around people who like me, and vice versa. Expressing my affection and recieving affection is probably the most meaingful part of my life. [ September 15, 2002: Message edited by: Plump-DJ ]</p> |
