Post "Ice Age" disclaimer - give me a break!

Rented "Ice Age" over the weekend (admittedly, just so we could see the short "Scrats missing adventure". That animal is a, uh, nut!

Anyway, at the beginning of the DVD, before the menu, there's a disclaimer. Something like "The opinions expressed in the commentaries on this DVD are those of the individuals and do not represent the views of MGM etc yada yada yada".

Now, I didn't get a chance to watch the commentaries, but I can't imagine that any rude comments would have made it through the editing process. This leads me to believe that they must be talking about comments about the validity of the ice age? Are they putting that disclaimer in there to cover their arses about a naturalistic viewpoint? Are there that many fundies that they have to take that precaution?

Anybody else ever seen a disclaimer like that?

yup. on the Simpsons DVD complete second season. It's just to cover their asses in case any of the comments are in any way offensive to anyone anywhere at anytime.

Go rent Fight Club, listen to the commentary. There's a wonderful segment where Fincher, Pitt, and Norton start bashing Rosie O'Donnel for giving away the ending to the public on TV.

There are good reasons to have those little disclaimers.

Well, the "E" word was mentioned at the end. I wonder if Christians are letting their children watch this movie.

"...the entire story had foundation in defiance of the Truth, of Creation [Gen. 1:24-31]. Indeed, Ice Age is a good way to indoctrinate your children to the theory of evolution if you are into that sort of thing."
Do these people ever actually enjoy themselves?

I think Fox puts such disclaimers on all their DVD's now. It's just a general legal move.

I think the Jurassic Park DVD should have a "disclaimer" at the front that says something like...

"Hey Kent Hovind, I got your Dinos RIGHT HERE!"

Of course not. Pleasure is sinful, just ask 'em. This is the same crowd that spread rumors about Jessica Rabbit appearing nude in one frame of 'Roger Rabbit' and denounced Aladdin and Lion King for occultism.
