Atheist Poetry! (yes, really)
I found this site:
www.angelfire.com/darkside/infidelia Called "Infidelia Ink", which has random atheist/agnostic/not Christian poetry and stuff on it. So I thought I'd quote some: The Neverending Debate [THEIST] Have you ever wondered, How we came to be? Did some God create us? Were we meant to be? Out of all the many planets, And worlds we'll never see, Why was this world chosen, To bear both you and me? [INFIDEL] Perhaps it is sheer chance, That I exist at all The sum of an equation, Numbers, that is all. No God above to watch me, Not for me the way of Saul, I need no heavenly Father To catch me when I fall. [THEIST] He is your Creator, Protector and great lord, He is your Father above, And you His own dear ward. Our God deeply loves you, Does not demand as an overlord, The obedience that you owe Him As one whom He adores. He who gave His all for you, On a cross so long ago, How can you refuse Him, Who gave more than we know? [INFIDEL] There is too little evidence, For me to believe you now, Too much that weighs against it, To many questions, how can a God who dies be a sacrifice? For he knew he would rise again He has not as much as man to lose And worshippers to gain. This God does not prevent suffering Nor heal the ailing child, He is not seen by you or me And his followers his name defiled. No, I can't believe in Jesus, Your talk of 'love' means nothing, I am happy in my unbelief I'll not spend my life grovelling! © Infidelia Ink, 2002 They have a sort of counterpoint (?) to C S Lewis' story about heaven (The Great Divorce, I think it is) too. Anyway....just thought I'd offer it up to you guys. --Egoinos-- |
