Ahem. So, just out of curiosity will you be turning the other cheek or taking an eye for an eye? If you can explain which one you choose and you can logically explain why, while keeping consistant with the idea of the Christian god and the bible, then I will consider you as a formidable theist and one worthy enough to spend my time listening to. If not, well, I'll probably listen to you anyway, but I will not hold as much respect for you in the area of logic. Really, proving which path you follow shouldn't be so hard, it's in the bible isn't it? Certainly the bible would not contradict itself. Or do you simply negate the OT and strictly follow the NT? Well, I'll be interested in hearing your response.

I would just like to remind all that regardless of whether I or any other Christian convinces you, we are all still accountable to our Heavenly Father for the choices we've made in life.
Regardless about what you may have read in the bible or heard in church, I will not be held accountable to your god. Your god has nothing on me, I work for a living. If your god did exist, his silly actions would be proof that he could not compete with my logic and therefore, after a quick discussion he would concede to my rational superiority. I am God, and no one is accountable to me but myself.

Oh, yea, and welcome to the Secular Web.

I am a homemaker, married for 15 years, with two children, a son (age 10) and daughter (age 7), and we all live in Colorado. We are all true Christians, which means that we are Evangelical Christians who rely solely on the authority of the Holy Bible. Our church is a conservative Evangelical church. I look forward to future debates. Thank you.

Hi Barbara,
Welcome to the den of iniquity.
Although I am a non-believer, I will give you credit for saying something that many christians are either afraid to say or choose to ignore.
There certainly are many many people who claim to be christian, but they have absolutely no clue about the teachings of their icon Jesus.
Liberal christians for the most part (granted a blanket condemnation is not warrented) pick out what they choose to believe from Biblical texts and junk the rest.
I have always thought that it takes more than a casual knowledge of biblical text and more than listening to the preaching of clergy, to extract
the real teachings of Jesus from the NT and non-canonical gospels and that many so-called christians would discover a very different characterization of this icon with investigation.
I look forward to your slant and opinions.
Wolf

Shouldn't that be "I look forward to your slanted opinions?"

Sorry - couldn't resist.

Welcome, Barbara - I hope you return!

What does the Bible say about Internet usage?

Barbara, since you strictly follow the teachings of the Bible, you do not eat pork (Leviticus 11:7) or shellfish (Leviticus 11:10), correct?

I'm not certain why my introduction was moved to a discussion forum. My introduction was not up for discussion. I was simply trying to tell everyone a little about myself. I am not obligated to answer any of the questions in this thread because I did not initiate any specific topic here.

I will tell you that I'm not afraid to preach Hell in my witnessing. It's the duty of all Christians to preach Hell because our Lord Jesus Christ preached it. Any Christian who does not preach Hell is not a true Christian, and there are plenty of them in this country. I certainly don't think that Hell is a nice thing but the Lord has given us a choice in this life, either be with or without Him for eternity.

I'd rather speak of the enormous love that the Lord has for us all, even for those who don't believe in His Son. He has provided a simple path for us in life. My sincere prayer and hope is that all will be saved.

Minor points:

Nobody ever has an obligation to post anything at anytime. You can submit a controversial post and then never come back to discuss it, if you wish. If someone were to continually do that (Eternal), that would likely be considered rude though. Many of us post, and follow up on our postings, for the sheer delight of it.

Some friendly advice TC:

Threats, warnings, and intimidations of hell will not likely work on anyone here. We don't perceive the threat as being real enough to take seriously. Many (if not most) of the atheists here are former Christians who are not frightened much anymore from hellfire and brimstone admonitions. If you insist on using such tactics, you will probably not be received well here.

What will work on many of us is if some evidence that God actually existed was presented.

Otherwise, welcome to the II and I hope you enjoy your time here.

Brian
