My Introduction
I would just like to say a quick hello to all those on this board. I found this board after doing a search for some religious information on the Internet. I'd like to participate in some of the debates because as a Christian I am called to witness and defend my faith.
I am a homemaker, married for 15 years, with two children, a son (age 10) and daughter (age 7), and we all live in Colorado. We are all true Christians, which means that we are Evangelical Christians who rely solely on the authority of the Holy Bible. Our church is a conservative Evangelical church. We believe that many who call themselves Christians today are not Christians at all, as they do not strictly follow the teachings of the Holy Bible. I look forward to future debates. Thank you. In Christ's Love, Barbara |

Finally, a True Christian! We were getting tired of all the imposters. They even had the gall the claim that they were the True Christians. I'm so glad that you have come to straighten them (and us) all out!

I'd be interested in knowing what makes your particular sect more "true" than another, but that's a discussion for another forum, such as Miscellaneous Religion Discussions or Existence of God(s). In the meantime, welcome to the boards! |

Welcome to a fellow Coloradoan!I am also a mother to two wonderful kids. I hope that you will keep an open mind about the dialogue here and be willing to listen. Be prepared to back up your assertions.
Also, please review forum rules before posting, each forum has it's own personality and set of guidelines. Again, welcome, I look forward to the opportunity to free your mind to new possibilities. |

Welcome Barbara
This is a great place to hang out and you will be treated with the same amount of respect an cordiality you show others. "We don't take to kindly to preachin' around thes parts" but we will listen quietly to your arguments before we tear them to shreds. Have a nice time here. Stan the understanding beachbum |

TC, my greetings also. You will not be the only Christian here; however, if you are one of those who claim that a Catholic is not a Christian, I expect you will be in for some rough treatment. Look for HelenSL and for Albert Cipriani; we sometimes disagree with them, but most of us are willing to call them intellectual equals, and even friends. Learn from their examples, and you may find this forum to be an enormously interesting, though challenging, place.
Some of our members have been emotionally savaged by families who used religion as a club to beat them with; their reaction to *anyone* who names themself Christian will be negative, sometimes extremely so. *coughMadKallycough*. If you can keep your temper and avoid preaching- if you can indeed turn the other cheek- you may prove yourself to be one of the all-too-rare theists who can tread safely in this lion's den of atheists. I urge you to read lots before you write even a little; a large percentage of us were raised as Christians of many different stripes, and therefore need not have John 3:16 repeated to us for the umpteenth time! Fair warning- we will challenge your faith and beliefs! And if you can convince a single one of us that your religion is the correct one- it will be the first time that I personally know of! |

Welcome True Christian.
Also rembember that many of us are Atheists or Agnostics, and thus lack a belief in God or think god at least may not exist. Therefore, you and all other christians (and other religious types) are on pretty much equal footing - you have to establish to us why you believe there is a god, and why this god is the Christian god, preferably before you try to establish why your particular version of Christianity is the correct version. A tall order. Good luck. |

Thanks to all who gave me a warm welcome. I have been reading many of the other posts on these boards and I understand where some of your comments are coming from. I'm certainly not a theologian or any kind of Christian scholar but I consider myself to be an informed and intelligent Christian.
My point of view on witnessing and defending the faith is much like William Lane Craig's. I will witness and defend my faith but if I fail to convince you, do not blame our Heavenly Father. It would be my fault, and with much prayer and study of the Scriptures, I would hope to learn from my mistakes. I would just like to remind all that regardless of whether I or any other Christian convinces you, we are all still accountable to our Heavenly Father for the choices we've made in life. In Christ's Love, Barbara |
