christians who havent read the bible
a continuation of the other poll?
would you or have you ever argued with a christian who hasnt read the bible? i tried before and it was pathetic...having read the bible i knew quite a few good quotes and their location to bitchslap that mofo into the ground to the point that he had to respnod with "well god loves you, but you are going to hell, so i win". another told me that you have "faith" in the bible so you dont have to read it. well i dont even bother with christians that havent read the bible. i have read it-why should i argue about what someone is supposed to beleive if they dont even know themselves? it just makes it pointless. you know-god says dont eat shellfish. you should really order the porterhouse. WTF THATS NOT IN THE BIBLE! and it really pisses me off when christians take parts of the bible they like and leave other parts-especially when they are both from the same book. if u arent going to trust the thing fully whats the point of even calling yourself christian??? |

Ignorance of the Bible a VIRTUE???
It is amazing how ignorant of "Biblical Family Values" many people are. And I mean by that what's really in the Bible rather than the Religious-Right form of Political Correctness. Thus, a certain Senator Santorum ought to have read the Bible before he linked homosexuality to polygamy -- several of its "good guys" were men with more than one wife. |

Interesting mirror to my question.
While I as a non-believer plan to let that book gather dust, if I were to say I believed in the Bible, I most certainly would force myself to read the whole thing and critically evaluate it. Just as I have forced myself to read through a boring legal document before signing it or deciding I didn't agree with something in it. |

For a few years after I left religion I didn't want to look at it again, but now it is fun when I can view it from a more objective and critical eye. Now I have a CD in my drive with Bible, Koran, Vitas etc. for reference and comparisn, and Bible reading is actually now fun. j |

I'd say it's a matter of choice. If most Christians were to actually read every page of the Bible, they'd gloss over, tune-out, forget or deny the parts they don't like... and despite believing less of the Bible, wouldn't notice and would become more adamant about their "Bible belief".
The flip side of what Never and walross were talking about. |
