Everyone offer their own cause for the universe.
Assuming the universe requires a cause, it eludes me how the theists arrived at God when the obvious answer is this...
A trancendant universe making machine that existed before time began, is existing now, and will exist when time ends and therefore requires no cause for itself. My universe machine is SUPERnatural so it doesn't fall subject to scientific explaination. Noone can prove that it doesn't exist, so it must! |

By the way, my universe machine is NOT omnipotent or omniscient... but is diligently working on the whole disease and famine thing.

A pink unicorn did it (not an invisible one, that's the evil twin). Wait, you wanted a creative explanation? Cretin pounding!
The universe is actually a projectile weapon fired from a device owned by a member of a race of giant, super-intelligent, pandemensional beings at a giant wasp-like creature. The person firing the weapon is actually a little crazy, but would be interested to know that in the instant of the existance of this projectile he managed, somehow, to create sentient life. I know this is true because it has never been refuted. You can't disprove something that's true. |

Jubal... nice one. Is there any way we can combine our theories to form a stronger, more ridiculous one? The more details we have, the more argumental hiding places we have. |

The big bang was the result of the pyrotechnics of a really wild concert getting a little out of control. I should know since I used my time travel machine to attend the concert. It was great! You don't believe me? Try to prove me wrong. You can't!
