He's gonna get us killed whether or not he believes what he says. While we await our premature death, I see it as counterproductive to the cause, to give the man the gift that keeps on giving... a legacy of personal integrity, rooted in an honest conviction of the heart, when there has been no such evidence offered prior to his becoming a candidate. I see it as far more important, to seriously question what I see as obviously phony, which has every sign of being nothing other than just another campaign sound byte. I must question why everyone seems to want to believe this one thing, while dismissing most everything else he says as being strictly political. I suggest that to do that, is to appear similar to those we call "sheep", who clearly and willingly do the exact same thing on this issue. You seem to find it more comforting to die from the actions of a "true" xian, than to die from the actions of just another politician who is once again, skillfully using xians as a tool. |

I have no idea if he truly believes as he says he does. Whether he is a true fundy or not is besides the point, because if his actions are that of a fundy then for all practical purposes, he is a fundy.
Now, Reagan was also a fundy, but we are still alive. You can say that his Presidency was extremely bad for the US, but he did not make us a third world country. We have had many fundamentalist presidents, this one is no different. Again, not every action that he takes is necessarily fueled by his religous beliefs. A lot of non-fundamentalists also want a war with Iraq, and I dont think his religion has anything to do with this war (maybe his oil friends but thats another topic ). About him being on a "calling"..well its pretty funny that he believes/says he believes that, but I wouldnt pay attention to that all that much. Everyone has their reasons for running for presidency. Some for prestige, some for a personal agenda, few for wanting to make the country a better place. You can be a successful president no matter what your personal reasons are. Even if an action is fueled soely by his religious beliefs, does not make it necessarily bad. He has done/said some VERY xian things and I watch him closely Well, he is (or puports to be) a VERY xian person...what do you expect? And you shoudl be watching your public officials closely no matter who they are. |
