What this disclaimer is for about trusting the material.

Jesus plainly said he would come 2000 years ago and people try to explain it away,and they believe that he is coming again for a second coming even though it would be his third coming.It goes on and on.

I belive that the material that has this disclaimer is more credible and explains the anomolies of the bible.

Simply,Jesus is a myth and that is all there is to it.

Not to move this thread even more off-topic, but Star Wars was based on The Hidden Fortress, not Yojimbo.

Yojimbo was remade in the west as A Fist Full of Dollars however. (And it was itself based on a Dashell Hammett novel)

The point being, religions, just like movies, tend to rehash old plots. Chrisitians will claim it is simply evidence of the truth of God revealing itself.

Seriously, Yojimbo serves as the source of the "Space Bar" scene in Star Wars--the whole "We're wanted men, I have the death sentence in twelve systems" crap all of the way to the severed arm on the floor. Of course, Mifune, being far more reliable than some Brit in a bathrobe, wipes out three guys.

Hidden Fortress is the basic story for Star Snores, and I would expand but fear the Powers that Be [Tm--Ed.] will flush this thread to something like the "Sports, Entertainment, and Apocalyptic Death-Cults section.

My point . . . is that Yoda is a POOR substitute for the "kensei" character in many of Kurosawa's films--such as Seven Samurai. Indeed, he would have lasted about one second with Mifune [RIGHT!! GET ON WITH IT!!--Ed.]

Maketh the point--the symbolism and events of many religions--including the stories attributed to Junior--appear based on previous and very popular motifs. Going back to the whole Star Bores theme for a moment, I showed a friend an anime. She asked me when it was made. When I told her she responded, "Well, know I know where Lucas stole the plot for The Phantom Menace."

So, when you encounter what appears an "historical event" only to see it has great symbolic significance--like Mt and Lk trying, deperately, to get the kid to Nazareth, and Jerusalem and all over the place--one has to wonder how "historical" that can be.

Now I can rest easy. I thought the plot was taken from current events:

1. Attack is made on current governing power
2. Governing power asks for more power to protect against attacks
3. Governing power uses new power to create dictatorship
4. Attacks turns out to have been arranged by governing power to create crisis!

Fortunately, only 1 to 2 have been true so far!

The whole Krishna thing is BS. The Christian missionaries started it to demonstrate to Hindus that Krishna is only a type of Christ and so they should become proper Christians. Practically none of the factors match.
For one thing Hindus don't have the sin thing to redeem themselves; none of the avatars business was to atone for man's sins and redeem them.

And now it is used to prove there are pre-christian crucified deities! Talk about poetic justice
