If a God really exists then he cannot be an Atheist. Whether he worships another god or not is irrelevant. Atheism is the absence of belief in any and all gods. So if God is an Atheist he must believe that he himself doesn't exist. If he is actually thinking this problem over, then he is as crazy as a loon.

Atheism is the absence of belief in any superior being. For God there is no superior being, therefore he must be an "atheist". He/she/it would be an atheist in the same sense as I am. [ November 27, 2002: Message edited by: Agricola Senior ]</p> |

How does one know whether another person or another god "believes" or not? Atheism/theism has to be quantifiable in some way I would think, despite the rhetoric. If this god of yours doesn't worship a higher power, doesn't pray, doesn't frequent sacred buildings and recite sacred writings or sing sacred songs, maybe by those standards and others your god is still an atheist. It all depends on the "god" I guess. What's that? Do we have a list of ten qualifications for being a god somewhere, so that any entity scoring a seven is a god? joe |

I guess it would all depend on whether "god" was aware that s/he/it was a "god." If this god was aware of itself being a god, I would argue it would not be an atheist. If though it was not aware itself was a god, it could be an atheist.

Agricola Senior:
That can't be the definition of atheist. I'm convinced my English Prof is superior to me in every imaginable way - Thus, he is a 'higher being,' and I am a theist? Eh, no. Theism or atheism only requires the (dis)belief in a DEITY. The question orients on whether God knows He's a God. One presume he does, given his penchant for biblical ranting. |

Don't we have the power to create a universe we can bend and shape to our liking? A realm seperate of our timeframe, one we can't physicly exist in, even though we know of and affect every aspect of it?

That would be the power to put pen to paper. Creating a 'world' in our minds is not creating a world. Unless you assume that our thoughts shape reality directly, in which case my paper on the Ethics of Time Travel is already done and I don't have to deal with it. Or not.

God is an atheist, and I am lying to you when I tell you it's so.
