Interesting. I will have to go find the book on the First Fossil Hunters. Thanks for the tip. Its really not that much of a stretch, if you think about it. Consider a human who has no idea about the world other than what he has experienced first hand.
What happens if the dinosaur bones were found by a guy who had accidently eaten a pschogenic mushroom? Who then runs back to his village babbling strange tales of huge monsters, then takes them out and shows them the bones? Humans have to have some explanation. So the crafty among them create an explanation that gives them some sort of comfort or power over their fellows. I sense a novel coming on...... |

There's a cool new show on called Conquest! The two episodes I've seen were on middle ages type weapons and fighting, and gladitorial style combat! VERY cool! |

I don't watch many of them anymore. My wife likes sitcoms and I can't stand sitcoms (well, Frasier is an exception). She also loves the reality TV tripe (meh!).
So I piss her off and play on the computer. |

I unfortunatly dont get cable, as I live out in the country
Relating them to my addiction, swords. From what ive heard, the discovery channel seems to be better than the history channel when it comes to the history of swords. Conquest is ok, but it leaves much to be desired. Whenever "MailCall" does a spot on swords its completly laughable, and I would say not trusting much about what they say about swords. Their willingness to go with myth instead of real facts when it comes to swords has me hopeing that they do much more research when putting their other shows together. |
