Yep-------Bumble Bee

Admit completely that I am seriously irrational about my core beliefs. And will make no apologies for that.

As for the rest of my Christianity--------that I try to look at rationally. And change my mind many times about so many things. My Christianity is a half baked pie---------that I freely admit. I am unsure outside of those core beliefs what I think is correct and what is not correct---------and I change my mind a lot about that part of it.

So shoot me-------

------for the irrationality of my basic and core beliefs.

I would think, however, that an atheist would applaud me for my eternal questioning about the rest of Christianity. I have received absolutely no applause whatsoever for anything so far from any atheist. That is the way it goes I guess. Doesn't really bother me anyway. -----------

But I think the point of this thread has been accomplished.-----

-----I am a Christian.

I think everyone agrees that one's core beliefs are what is most important and the "rest" is mostly consequential. You have openly admitted that your core beliefs are irrational. Why don't you question your them? Are you afraid? Are you emotionally dependent on them? Do you care if what your core beliefs are true or false? Why should anyone applaud your unwillingness to direct your "rational" intellectual honesty at your core beliefs?

I find after reading you a bit that, with only a gentle push, you would make a good Pagan. We revel in the irrational. We hold what works to be true. We really couldn’t care less what others think of our religious beliefs and find it great fun to confuse those who profess concern when hearing them. We pick and choose from many religions and tend to use theological ideas as though they were Kleenex to be used and discarded when they no longer serve.

We hold at least eight days of the year to be sacred and worthy of celebration and will contrive to be off work for several if possible. Other than the Catholics ( who stole most of their holy days from the pagans anyway) Christians can’t hold a candle to us when it comes to religious fun and games. BTW how do you feel about candles as religious accoutrement? Altars? Incense? Robes? NO----wait----this can’t----I am sorry----I’ve just discovered I’m Catholic---carry on as you would normally---- I may be gone a while---no need for concern---does this happen often do you know---What can I tell the other forums----My, my who would have thought.

Unfortunately I'm not so impressed. I shall make an announcement the next time that I'm going to make a witty remark, lest there be any confusion.
