Default Core Beliefs

There have been questions raised on this forum about my Christianity.--------------

(I know I said I would not start another thread because of the pain in the asss it seems to be to do that sort of thing but------So what? ------------ I lied.)

This one is about core beliefs. I am stating what I believe to be the core of my very personal and NON-RATIONAL belief system and not open to argument in any way because they are FAITH BASED. ------------(not that I really expect to get a break on that one.)

But what the hell---here goes.-----------

#!----------Jesus did live

#2----------Jesus wanted to teach the world something new and very important. Most of what He taught us was very simple and very practical ways to live our lives and to insure an afterlife. And to teach us to be very gracious to others during this lifetime.

#3----------Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected (for exactly what reason I am not exactly sure----I could buy the original sin part if it was explained better)---but I think mostly to tell us that there is an afterlife and He proved that there is life after death by His own example.

#4--------(This probably should have been earlier)------Jesus was half man, half God, born of the virgin Mary and God. Why?-------to let God better understand the trials and tribulations of mankind.

#5----------The rest of it is made up bullcrap. ---------Or at most merits some consideration, but not really particularly important.---as far as what Christianity is all about.

Now -------------here is the question to this forum --both theists and non-theists--------Am I a Christian or not?

You decide. And I will decide if I believe you.

You decide I am not a Christian ----------makes no difference to me.

I know that I am a Christian from these core beliefs.----------(faith- based and subject to no rational argument)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This should be a really short thread since I have allowed for no dispute------------but, then again--------We shall see, won't we?

This is an add on----

Someone posted once that I have reduced Christianity to a skeleton. That there is nothing left of my Christianity. I state that that skeleton is the real essence of Christianity.

It is only Man who has turned that sublime skeleton into an obese caricature of itself.

Now --------

I think that this would make a very interesting poll myself. Am I a Christian or not? Not sure what would happen on a predominantly atheist forum on that one. Very interesting to find out though.

Unfortunately, me being a newbie and all, and I would need beaucoup de help with this matter.---------------I have no clue how to start a poll. Starboy did it for me the last time. And it was a very nice thing for him to do.-----considering we did not get along all that well.

And since Starboy has somehow been banned (isn't that a Christian thing? --------in essence. Whoops ---I guess I meant shunned.-----same thing anyway.)

I may take a chance on getting "dumped" too, you up there, but I personally think that that was a very tacky thing to do to Starboy--with no explanation at all. I admit that Starboy could be a little rough around the edges--------but all in all I think a very decent fellow.

Now here I go, testing the tolerance of the moderators. And that seems to be a cardinal sin. (Oh no ---another Christian reference too.)

Not that I really care. Consider myself a "short timer" anyway.

It seems to me that the definition of "Christian" is so broad that I don't see a problem with classifying you as such.

You accept the divinity of Jesus, accept the resurrection, and claim to follow his teachings, so that makes you a person who believes in and follows Christ...ergo, a Christian.

Some of the "True Christians" might have a problem with your "and the rest is bullcrap" statement, but then, most sects of Christianity are keen to discredit everyone but themselves.

The way I see it, if you call yourself a Christian, then great googly-moogly, who am I to argue?

Well, as almost every christian bases their life choices and modes of thoughts around an irrational belief system with absolutely no basis in reality...Sure, you're a christian. Happy?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------hey, thought I'd try that annoying limiter too..--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Kind of annoying though, so I'll stop now....----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I lied.

OK key---------------------------------

There is moderation ----------------------and there is excess. ---------------------------- I think you did-------------------------- the excess part very well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------I join ---------------------------and revel in your excess----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good night all--

Why do you believe that there is an afterlife? In other words, which Biblical verse(s) that speak of an afterlife do you hold as factual?

Did he tell you that there is an afterlife?

I thought Jesus was 100% man and 100% god?! More importantly, where did you hear about "God", and what made you believe in it?

Can you give a reason why the things you believe aren't made-up bullcrap?

Sounds xian to me, R-BAC.

But I'd like a bit more info on your core afterlife ideas. Who benefits from Jesus's example? How does one attain a favorable afterlife? What happens to those that don't meet these qualifications?

I'd have to call you a cherry picker, my friend. Congratulations! Maybe someday you'll fully work your way over to the dark side with all us evil atheist types.
