There *are* questions that simply do not make logical sense. You can ask "Why does a duck?" all you want, but rational discussion will not lead one to the answer (which is, by the way, "because one of its legs are both the same").

Any answer to this question requires a teleology. As such the answer will not be scientific, but more related to religion or philosophy. Why is there something as opposed to nothing? Might the answer simply be that something is better than nothing?

Might a better answer be that there is no answer and that teleology is false?

Liquidrage offers the most honest answer, and at least he acknowledges the question. Maybe there's some direction in Philosophy as well, but that's another of my weak suits.

Hey, there’s a ton of questions I don’t know the answer to, but making like an ostrich each time I don’t know is hardly a valid response.
