Ashcroft 's Nude Statues Complaint
Ashcroft is our new Taliban leader, first causing the semi-nude statues (installed in 1936)in the Hall of Justice to be covered! Give an inch, the Chistian Coalition will take a mile.Prurience in the mind of the beholder. As a sculptor, that disgusts me.I hear that a statue in the lobby of NBC in NYC has been complained of also. Wonder when they will close down the Museums and burn the Rubens paintings?

What was Asscroft worried about? The nub that he'd get would be easily covered by the podium. I do like Republican use of taxpayer money. Eight thousand dollars to cover up the statues was a better idea than moving the podium. No wonder Bush blew our surplus.

Whenever I hear the news media refer to John Walker Lindt as the "American Taliban", I think they are referring to the Bush Administration. The news gave only a few seconds of coverage to the expensive burka that was created to cover the statues.

One thing about the problem public authorities in the US have with the renaissance iconography of justice was that the staments on the matter were quoting presse secretary Barbara Comstock. Is this or is this not a good moment to revive that old expression "comstockism"..?(google it)
