Goodbye to this community I've had enough
To all:
I have decided to leave iidb. Despite the wonderful experience I have had with the members here, who, with very few exceptions, are humans of the highest caliber, and despite the many things I have learned, from both allies and opponents in various political and philosophical debates, and, most of all, despite the many personal friends I have acquired, I can no longer support with my presence a board run by people who are so inhospitable, so arrogant, and so impenetrably immune to constructive criticism as Don Morgan. I also do not feel comfortable supporting an organization, ii, that has such an elitist, top-down culture and displays such disdain for the good people of this board who spend more time and energy battling the threats of theist encroachment on our rights than all the ii Board of Directors put together. It just doesn't feel good to try to help a place that is constantly reminding you that they are doing you a favor by even letting you speak. I will be setting up a private email at dgaliel@yahoo.com for anyone here who wishes to stay in touch. I have really enjoyed my time here, and I hope others will stay and fight to get the people running this board to improve it before someone else comes along and takes this entire community away, simply by offering a more responsive and end-user-oriented online community. Peace, and good luck to you all. David Galiel. [ November 09, 2002: Message edited by: galiel ]</p> |

Much as I will personally miss your brand of intellect and enthusiasm, I can only paraphase a valuable insight I read not so long ago.
Feel free to leave. There are millions around the world dying--literally--to get into a place like this. Don't worry! The rest of us will stay here and fight the good fight so that you can come back when it's all over and enjoy the benefits of the victories we have won. (galiel: How could I possibly pass that up? Give yourself a pat on the back. I remembered who said it and where it was said. It was just one of the numerous things with which I found myself in complete agreement...though not with your latest decision and name calling departure post. What positive thing do you hope to accomplish with it? ) Well, I know that I will personally miss your many cage rattling posts, if not always your seeming oversensitivity to criticism or rebuke. But then, this is cyberspace, and one must learn that the real people behind the posts are not always what their posts may make them seem to be. Best wishes for your, and your family's, health and happiness. |

Bump to Bugs, Problems, and Complaints since there is no mention of CS separation or activism.
