Coming soon to a town near you!
Get your good suit of the closet because the Happy Hunter Ministries is bringing the circus to town
It's not coming to my town until early may,but the crazy Fellowship church down the road already has 100% sign saturation in a 20 mile radius. Go ahead and try to get through that webpage without feeling sick to your stomach. |

Charles and Frances Hunter are the force behind this weeks Nutwatch. Charles wrote Angels on Assignment and they push that along with their other wares at their faith healing services. I went to one of their services about fifteen years ago when I was a teenager and starting to have problems with my faith. I left feeling good, but harboured a nagging doubt about the two visible "miracles" I had witnessed during the service (much less the doubt regarding the invisible "miracles").

1. A young woman getting her back straightened by God growning out one of her legs about and inch (a trick I saw on TV several years later). The person has to be wearing slipper-type shoes, the person is made to sit while the performer/healer extend both legs out and the audience/congregation is directed to watch one foot which appears to be growing while the performer/healer slides the the other shoe (which he had pulled off slightly as he extended her legs), pushing the shoe back into place, giving the effect of the other leg growing. I distinctly remember Charles Hunter directing everyone's attention to the other foot so they wouldn't miss the miracle.
2. An older gentleman rising out of a wheelchair. While I had never seen the man before, I was under the impression that the wheelchair did not belong to him, that he could walk before coming that evening, and, also, he was rolled into the chapel after all of the regular seats were taken. ("I sorry, sir, the chapel is full. Why don't take the weight off your feet in this (wheel)chair and we'll take you to a nice place where you can see" (and be seen).) I was looking for something more than sleight of hand and misdirection. Several admonitions throughout the evening also left me asking the question, "How can a person, having doubt, drive away the power of the holy spirit? The holy spirit being part of an omnipresent, omnipotent presence." Bty, Frances Hunter is a diabetic. It's the "cross" god has given her to bear. Pierre |
