As the nonbelievers marched from the Washington Monument to Fourth Street NW, where they had their rally, they were followed and sometimes heckled by about 60 Christians who carried signs offering competing messages: "Trust Jesus" and "Turn to Jesus or Burn in Hell."
Excellent!

Uhm. I'm almost starting to think that too.

Damn the corporate press.

I had some trouble viewing the pictures posted at Yahoo's server; it was difficult to load them. I use MacOS X, and out of Internet Explorer, Chimera, and OmniWeb, only OmniWeb had the persistence to download those pictures.

But those were nice pictures; I estimated from one of them a possible crowd size of about 1000. I counted how many people were on the edge of the crowd in one of the pictures, then assumed that the crowd was approximately square-shaped. If it was extended in one direction and that direction was perpendicular to the view direction, I would get an overestimate, while if it was extended along the view direction, I would get an underestimate.

My best guess is two things: 1) the timing was not good because of it being the weekend before the election (I agree with whoever else said this) - that will take precedence in news coverage

2) Not enough people showed up for them to consider it a major story.

The irony of the above quote is that Christians tend to complain about lack of coverage of their events and say it shows the media is controlled by liberals and non-Christians.

If Christians and non-Christians complain about lack of coverage then is it possible that the news media isn't that biased, actually?

Maybe what it means is that they choose for themselves what is the most important (or best-selling ) news of the day, whether we agree or not and whether we like it or not.

You're probably right, Helen. But what I wonder is what was so much more newsworthy about the use of the wooly worm to predict the severity of the coming winter. Headline News led with this story (after the sniper, after the election coverage) every half hour.

I edited my post above to make it clear that these are photos I have found on the web. I was not able to attend the march.

Oh, I totally agree! I was theorizing that the news might not be as 'biased' for or against theists as some people - on both sides - have suspected. However, I certainly wasn't saying I agree that it's all 'newsworthy', from my point of view.
