I like George W. Bush, but I've got to say if you study even a little about history of religion and pagan originated holidays, like many here do, there's no way you could come to the conclusion that any of this stuff really happened.

i'm just glad he didn't use it as an opportunity to tie saddam with 9/11 or osama.

is it that bad? every president has been protestant except for kennedy...bush just doesnt hide his. but hes not pushing it on you. hes not making it the official religion of the state (not in this).
this doesnt bother me. i think people are overly sensitive sometimes. edit: this alone, ignoring other relgious stuff he has done, doesnt bother me. |

The fact that he is religious is not what bothers me. If he was posting his religious message on his personal website it wouldn't be offensive. However, he is using his office as president to further his religion. He posted a blatently christain message on the White House government website. That is out of line (not that it is his first time). On the contrary, he is pushing his religion on the entire country -- it is something he does quite regularly and it is disgusting.

I gotta shrug my shoulders. I don't feel particularly oppressed as an atheist by a president who was well known to be born again before he was elected and is reminding us on Christianity's most valued week.

Bush:
I send greetings to those observing Easter. I too am not bothered by it. Every President has used the office as a bully pulpit for a variety of non-political messages, of faith, philosophy or whatever. Even Madison issued proclamations of faith on days of feasting and thanksgiving. Bush's message is meant for those who observe easter. The rest of us shouldn't worry about it. It's not like he said that we're all going to hell for not believing. That would be something. |

Yawn
It doesn't strike me as oppressive. When the Goober uses his fundie beliefs to make policy though it does. Bush is not as bad as Reagan and not as good as his Daddy, but he needs to be turned out in '04 simply because he is the wrong one to be making SCOTUS appointments now.
