Question Mt. Sinai question

Anyone know of anything that can back this up or shoot it down?

Have you ever seen the pictures and accounts of Mount Sinai (more commonly called Jebal al-Lawz) in Saudi Arabia? That is about as close to supernatural evidence as you can get. There are 12 pillars there, a cave entrance, a rock cloven in two with water erosion damage at the base of it (where Moses struck the rock and clove it in two, causing water to gush forth), an altar, and, most impressively, a completely blackened mountaintop - whose rocks were NOT burned on the inside.

Umm, not a single one of those effects, if true, requires a supernatural explanation.

Further, if true, that's better evidence for Judaism than Christianity, which is what the poster on that thread appears to be claiming it is.

I did a google search on Jebal al Lawz, and got three hits. One, here, says "the Jebal al Lawz granitic mountains contain at least 20 peaks at over 2,000m." In other words, it's a mountain range and not one mountain.

Here's an interesting, and devastating, critique of the "Mt. Sinai in Arabia" theory, from a Xian perspective.
