What is the basis for this conscious decision?

Oh come on, I've been splattering that basis over an umpteen threads here! Fear of death, of course.

So Magus, how exactly do you communicate with god? Does he talk to you clearly, in audible languages? Does he write his message? Or is some vague feeling from which you interpret extraordinary messages. Please share.

it's not easy & takes alot of faith. in fact i think when you get right down to it its all ultimately wrapped up in faith. sometimes its a love that exists in spite of feelings as opposed to existing because of how i feel.

Take a lot of faith in something that is not proven to exist.

It also took me a lot of faith to believe that the moon was actually cheese,I could not believe those nasa pictures until I bought a telescope.I really believed the moon was cheese and could not believe that I was wrong.

Faith is the death of logic.

This is a bit divergent from the OP, but I had to share and didn't want to start a new thread...

Anyway, apparently some Christians do believe they indeed have a very personal relationship with God. God does talk directly to some, when they're out car-shopping!! From another board, trying to convince an agnostic to "see the light..."

Quote:
I can tell you that God has proven Himself faithful time and time again. Just recently we were in a car accident... (a month ago) it could have been SO much worse than it was... and God brought us all through that, AND He provided us with a car, that I would never have dreamed He'd give us. For the money we could afford to spend I wasn't expecting anything newer than a '97. He literally lead us to a 2000!
Makes ya wonder why He didn't just tell them not to drive that day, or take a different route, to prevent the accident in the first place, huh? Anyway, just thought I'd share.

They could care less about their own lives and are very materialistic.

But what about the 3000 people in the WTC why did God not help them by telling them to flee the building?

It would have been simple for God to have some kook to called in a bomb threat before the planes hit.

If that kook would have done that, that kook would be a hero.

Why couldn't the people that flew the planes into the building just follow God's commandment of thou shalt not murder, and 3000 people wouldn't have died? God does not run around fixing every humans stupid mistakes. Yes, innocents suffer at the hands of others - such is the destruction of sin. Humans chose to kill other humans, and humanity has to deal with the consequences. God is not a magic genie who runs to every spot in the world where evil is about to take place and stops it. Even if the world could follow just the 10 basic commandments, it would be a better place - but no, humans choose to ignore God's existence and hurt others. Thats humanities problem, not God's.

Fortunately, God will restore the world to order and will avenge those who lost their lives needlessly.
