Stop Congress from Rolling Back Key Civil Rights Protections!
Earlier this month -- thanks in large part to your pressure -- the Senate refused to allow religious discrimination with federal funds. Despite this, legislation coming before the House of Representatives would remove key civil rights protections against religious discrimination in taxpayer-funded programs. In an unprecedented move, this legislation would allow religious organizations involved in federal job training programs to discriminate based on religion when hiring staff for taxpayer-funded services.
This legislation -- the Workforce Reinvestment and Adult Education Act -- should not be allowed to remove key civil right protections! It is critical that Congress expands -- not contracts -- civil rights legislation.
