Why do you say that?

yguy, why did I say that?

Well they could'nt turn to page ten and read : Look GOD seh we be free, dem people is hall powhitetrash.

It is a bit different to have direct comfort in precise words rather than trying to eke a relative meaning out of the history of a people.

wtf??

So how then were blacks ever able to live without their masters then? Clearly, they were born slaves, for many generations. What changed?

I'm not sure I understand the question. If you mean before they were sold to Europeans, they could hardly have been sold if they hadn't been slaves of the sellers, who were their fellow native Africans.

They came here and had a taste of freedom - despite the fact that the slave traders didn't particularly have such a consequence in mind. It was like a grain of wheat remaining dormant for thousands of years and sprouting on encountering moisture. At least that's the way I see it.

Cool The REAL 11th Commandment

I always thought the real 11th commandment was:

If you must break the other 10 commandments, don't get caught!

Everyone knows that the 11th Commandment (of the Republican Party) is Thou Shalt Not Speak Ill of a Fellow Republican.

Slavery is implicity condoned by one of the other commandments.

I would't put it that way exactly. It's like you broke down my statements, compared them to yours, and logically equated them because noun matched noun, verb matched verb, etc.

For instance:

"anyone : as one who follows God unerringly cannot be coveted, nor does he covet."

Being coveted is not equivalent to being enslaved, because you can be coveted by another without ever knowing it.

on the other hand god specifically tells us not to kill our fellow dipshits. so when we do murder we are going against god.

so has no true christian ever committed murder?

as clearly according to you no true xian ever owned a slave?

As to slaves, iirc most slaves were captured by people in africa and sold to the europeans. so they were not in fact raised slaves.

conversely, please provide some proof for your inane assertion that the slaves taken to america were all born into slavery.

Not while he was a "true Christian".

Owning a slave isn't necessarily immoral. At the founding of the country, freeing a slave might have meant he either was enslaved by someone else or killed.

I don't know about that, but many were sold by their own "brothers", and thus were born slaves. It's about an old an institution as there is, and it continues in parts of Africa to this day.

Ecclisiastes 2:7
"I bought male and female slaves and had other slaves who were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me."

Ephesians 6:5-9
"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. "

The only people Israelites are not allowed to have as slaves are fellow Israelites. Everyone else is fair game. Nowhere in the New Testament is slavery considered immoral.

Cities were not run by slaves.

When the Israelis did not kill everyone they enslaved the rest.

Others have given other textual evidence.
