Ben Witherington's Book
Has anybody read Ben Witherington's "Jesus, Paul and the End Times?" Is it any good? How does he "get around" the end-times dilemna?

I got the book for Christmas, but have to admit that I have not yet had a chance to read it. It was coming up on my reading list pretty soon. So if you aren't in a hurry, I'll let you know after I finish it. I do know that Witherington is a fan of the Kingdom being "now, not yet" approach to the end times issues. On another note, I just completed Witherington's New Testament History and enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend it. |

I'm sure it's just one of many Christian interpretations of the end times. The simple fact that is overlooked by Christians (not surprisingly) is that Jesus himself predicted the end (coming of the Kingdom of God) within his lifetime, and then when he knew he was going to die, shortly after he died. The early church upheld this belief too. It's all in the NT, but of course Christians twist these verses so that they can continue in their false belief system.
