Southern Baptist pastor condemns Islam
Interesting story here:
<a href="http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/061202/met_9646446.html" target="_blank">Jacksonville, FL Story</a> Speaks volumes that the Southern Baptist Convention refuses to repudiate his statements. Will this hurt the image of the Southern Baptists? Or do most people write them off already? [ June 12, 2002: Message edited by: Walks the Fire ]</p> |

There's a similar story here in the Dallas area...a pastor named Jack Graham, who heads up the gigantic Prestonwood Baptist Church, was just named president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Apparently when this Jerry Vines character made his remarks about Islam, Graham did nothing to diminish the remarks, but rather reaffirmed it.
Prestonwood recently built a huge facility in what was once horse pastures. The main sanctuaury resembles a blimp hangar, it's so large. The locals call the place "Fort God". The congregation likes to practice a form of proseltyzing by erecting athletic fields and inviting non church members to play sports there. Attempts are then made to convert the "secular" sports participants. To the point: lots of people in the Dallas area don't write off the SBC. In fact, they're swelling its ranks. |

I especially like this quote:
"And I will tell you Allah is not Jehovah either. Jehovah's not going to turn you into a terrorist that'll try to bomb people and take the lives of thousands and thousands of people.'' But apparently Jehovah will turn you into a terrorist who bombs abortion clinics and assassinates doctors in their homes. The level of hypocrisy is astounding. |

Jehovah desnt turn Xians into terrorists because he is the ultimate terrorist! After all, who else has committed mass genocide time and time again, drowned all life on earth*, and tortured billions forever and ever simply because they didn't believe that he sacrificed himself to himself in order to change the rules he made himself.
And we are to believe Xianity is a religion of loooove. * ok, all life except a "perfect" man and his family |

<rant>
I don't think Jehovah or Allah or Jebus or fuzzy pink bunnies caused anyone to commit terrorist acts or to murder other humans. I think a delusional belief in mythology created a warped justification in these individuals minds. I don't condone or believe murder or war is justified by anything (well, I can think of one relative it might apply to.) These idiots don't even have enough balls to admit that their actions are theirs alone. Allah told me to do it! Jebus told me to do it! Jehovah told me to do it! They are unbelievers, kill them! I am so tired of this bullshit. </end rant> Filo [ June 12, 2002: Message edited by: Filo Quiggens ]</p> |
