Well, yeah, doubt and fearfulness do not equal peace and confidence, that is so, but it is equally true that doubt and fearfulness don't characterize atheism any more than they do theism. In addition, many people who confidently feel they will live, don't make it, no matter what their state of belief.

Self-delusion can't co-exist with doubt and fearfulness. You're not deluding yourself (sucessfully anyway) if you're doubting or fearful that you might be deluding yourself. That's the beauty of it - self-delusion is as real as (or the same as, depending who you ask) firm faith, and equally calming and confidence-boosting.

Can energy be considered to be something?

Energy is released and becomes more diffuse. We can feel the effects of energy. But is it something?

Think of a hurricane or tornado. Energy, from the sun, pushes air molecules into regoniseable paterns do to atmospheric conditions and the earths rotation. We see, feel, and hear the molecules being propelled by the energy; or do we feel the energy itself?
