A treat in store in London
Anyone visiting London should pay a visit to the Natural History Museum's new <a href="http://www.eurekalert.org/staticrel.php?view=darwin" target="_blank">Darwin Centre.</a>
Up to now, the Museum has been able to show only about 1 percent of its collection, and the new centre will show much more and there will be tours conducted by working scientists. The new rooms just opening constitute the Spirit Gallery. This has nothing to do with spooks, but everything to do with the alcohol in which specimens were preserved to be brought back to Britain. On display are items collected by Captain Cook in the 18th century and by Charles Darwin on the voyage of HMS Beagle. I believe you need to ring up and book a tour, as places are limited. |

And in 2007 they'll have the rest of the centre set up, with the insect and plant displays. I was at the NHM on Monday admiring the Dinobirds exhibition; I see I shall have to take another trip back soon. Ten hours on a plane each way - yuck!
