I find his articles very incendiary and I am in no way ready to know whether he is on the ball or an extreme slanderer. But from some of his other articles, he can be a real whack job or fairly insightful.

Personally, I think that he is somewhat correct, in that Islam was well designed to be very difficult to unravel and reform. And this reason probably has to do with the fact that the Koran was written by very pigheaded and barbaric people, who gave no quarter for opposing views.

These poor people are so regimented! Such a waste of human talents. They are actually using their mental powers to stay inside their highly constrictive box. Also notice the subliminal effect that the labeling must have on adherents of Islam: we have Bida'ah, Kaffir, Ummah etc.. They are making nebulous and basically inconsequential concepts hard as rocks in their minds. (Obviously cristianity does the same but I can't see the water I am swimming in.)

So from a meme model, why is Islam so successful?

Nothing much wrong with that article. Islam is merely using the standard tactics of all religions, ie keep the populace ill educated and informed, create a geniune hatred and paranioa about any dissenting views and impose itself on all aspects of life so it becomes a habit. It is just doing it more successfully than most.

On the bright side the ignorance and stupidity it fosters will be its eventual undoing as it faces the choice of either falling ever further behind in technology or embracing secular science and technology and therefore losing its powerful tool of ignorance.
