Post Darwin......a Christian?

This is one of the least talked about - even i had only come across it relatively recently.

There is a lot of evidence to support Darwin becoming a Christian in the later years of his life.

Did you know that he became distressed in his later years saying that his theory had become a religion......

If you've never heard this before do research on it - something that you will never be taught at school or in Uni.

...and if I remember correctly that the little "quote" about Darwin being concerned his theory had become a religion is a big fat lie. Also, why they hell would a school teach the religious beliefs of Darwin? It's insignificant. It has no bearing on the subject matter.

In my Evolution course, our bio of Darwin said that he joined the ministry as a young man in order to be able to study biology and the natural world. (The idea of natural theology was still in place, so most naturalists were from the clergy.) As he gathered data and developed his theory, it gradually led him to agnosticism, which is the way he stayed until he died. As a side note, there is documented evidence that his wife was highly distressed by the thought that she "wouldn't see him in heaven." Didn't change his mind, though.

Do a little more research on it and you'll see why this will never be taught at school or in Uni (unless, of course, it is a school that doesn't let reality get in the way of its religious agenda).

Here ya go. <a href="http://www.sol.com.au/kor/7_01.htm" target="_blank">Evidence</a> that Jesus went to India.

If you've never heard this before do research on it - something that you will never be taught at school or in Uni (or in Church, for that matter).

It really doesn't matter one way or the other. Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection stands or falls on its own merits, not because of Darwin's personal beliefs.

There are other stories of Darwin recanting. Even if they are true, they have the same authority as Galileo's forced repudiating of the heliocentric model of the solar system at the hands of the church.

To paraphrase Galileo
It still changes

there's a website called answers in genesis, a christian website, the darwin being a christian and or regretting evolution is something they tell believers not to buy in to.

<a href="http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs/1315.asp" target="_blank">did darwin recant?</a>

Who cares what Darwin believed? Does it matter?

Evolution != Creation

Evolution is obvious. Duh. Had Darwin not thought of it, someone else would have. The man isn't important (in the grand scheme of things I mean), the theory is all that mattered. It would have materialized (like all obvious things do) eventually.

Why would a 'god(s)' NOT make things that can adapt to an ever changing world? It would just make sense ... on second thought, making sense and god(s) don't tend to go hand in hand, so maybe that is the problem, aye?
