They are racist against blacks and especially Japanese. (The latter with some good reason--they were treated pretty brutally in the occupied areas in WWII.) Beyond that I haven't seen much racism.

We've never had any trouble over there and anyone seeing us would have no doubt we are an item. We have gotten a lot of long looks especially from males (and once nearly caused a guy to hit a pole--he was looking at us instead of where he was biking.)--I don't know if they are hostile or merely because we are unusual. On the other hand, women over there keep asking her what American men are like and where they can get one like me. She has gotten several requests for matchmaking--from women without a scrap of English.
Note that this is either Shanghai or various tourist areas. She says the rural areas are a lot more conservative but in our various trips we have never gone into such areas.

My impression of the sexual mores of the younger generation is that they tend to be a bit more conservative than here. While there are women who will engage in a one-night stand they are a smaller percentage.

Be especially careful about condoms--the reality of STD's and especially AIDS hasn't really sunk in. There are doctors over there who were never trained to recognize STD's even! (Mao managed to repress things enough that for a while STD's were unusual.)

Be careful of emotional entanglements--of the easy women there will be a fair number who are actually far more interested in a two-legged visa than love.

oh dear oh dear... sometimes you just shouldn't ask. Respect commands respect, and you don't exactly scream respect when you think of using women as your little play thing. The ignorance, utter blinding ignorance displayed about another culture is just beyond words. I for one simply cannot comprehend the superficiality and tragic absurdity oozing from your post. Not only does it play up to stereotypes, but goddamn.... women aren't there to suck you off; other cultures aren't there to fuck American-style; and i find your implication that your goal there is to get laid with numerous women, simply because you can, beyond the barrier of vile.

China is chockablock full of beautifull women. It is about as difficult to find yourself a companion, as it is getting a common cold.
And they are nice!!!
If you have a western girlfriend, you either take her there or you better bide her farewell.

Imagine going to a foreign country with the idea that one might look forward to fucking the opposite sex there. How weird. Certainly no woman would ever do that, and certainly no woman in that foreign culture would ever want to fuck a man simply because he is a foreigner. That just never happens.

That's what you think. Some women does really think of having sex with a foreigner (esp. of the 'western' kind, if got loads of money even better) just because he's a foreigner. Down here in sunny Singapore, it's known as the SPG (sarong party girl) 'syndrome'.
