Something's Missing From Christianity
Well a couple of things.
There is the obvious and ever-present lack of femininity in Christianity, especially in Christian e-mail spam and the whole God-Concept. But there are a few others that recent threads have brought to mind about Christian imagery, publications and art... - Noah's Ark themes. All those cute Animals and not one floating Corpse. - Apes. They aren't very fond of drawing Apes in their stories or art. Why is that? - Bonfires. Why don't christians like bonfires? What with all the animal sacrifice and book burnings and all. What other images to Christians tend to overlook/shun. Any why do you suppose? |

And for being so sure of God punishing sinners in the afterlife, and being so firm on the whole "free will" issue, they sure seem to want to mete out a lot of punishment of their own for deeds they perceive as 'sins', and control access to things they don't like which should be (by their own acknowledgement of free will) decisions left up to individuals.

In fairness, Catholics have Jesus Christ's mother and lots of female saints. But Fundies don't even have that.
As to their shortage of simian imagery, it might be something like: "I confess freely to you, I could never look long upon a monkey, without very mortifying reflections." William Congreve 1695 (in one of his letters). |

(Since the posting had been accidentally duplicated, I decided to add some more stuff in that message...)
The late Dr. Isaac Asimov had noted that it's human evolution that the fundies object to the loudest; they don't seem bothered by everything-else evolution. He had never gotten a letter indignantly objecting to the proposition that whales are descended from land animals or that beavers are descended from ratlike rodents. |

Anything about God killing kids or that generally puts him in a negative light is missing from children's bibles. Look through one sometime. They're mostly sanitized fluff pieces. |

Does anyone know if it is still available ,,, something I would really like most Christians to read and give their reactions. Another overlooked viewpoint is that of Job's first sons and daughters, or what his wife must have felt when she had to bear him ten more children (I am assuming he only had one wife). I think it is because of the mind set whatever God does is right.:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Plus we can't have compassion if it interfers with worshipping God, we might actually have to think. |

Rhea,
There are some things missing in Christianity. Most important of all of them are the people who haven't decided to join themselves to Christ and become part of his kingdom on earth. That's the main thing I see missing. Kevin |
