Default Scientific theories

How many different scientific theories are there (ala theory of evolution)? Is there a big 'ol list somewhere where I might find out about different theories in science?

Hmmmm...I doubt you'd find anything as comprehensive as what your hoping for.

But here are a few interesting sites related to scientific theories:

This is a neat "list" site (no descriptions) -

Theories which have stood against time

Here's an interesting site from the Arkansas Science Teachers Association with some brief descriptions of a dozen popular thories -

The Nature of Science and Scientific Theories

Neither of these are likely what you are looking for, but there's some good info to start with on these sites.
