was John a theist, anybody know? saw the film but havent read the book.

Hmmm...don't know and don't care myself. His contributions to mathematics are very important. Not very many mathematicians have a solution concept named after them.

As for the movie it could have won an Oscar for best Original Screenplay vs. Best Adaptation. The book and the movie are...loosely connected.

For example, the speech when Nash recieves the Nobel, pure bullshit. Never happened. All Nash did was stand and acknowledge the audience then take his seat. Harsanyi and Selten made remarks from what I understand.

Taken on it's own, though, I think the movie was quite good. More of a study in schizophrenia than anything else, and deeply disturbing in a subtle way because of the fundamental blurring of fantasy and reality.
