Did anyone ever get a picture of Richard Carrier? I've been wondering what that eminent gentleman looks like.
jewelc posted photos at this site: <a href="http://www.cardwell.us/gamow.html" target="_blank">http://www.cardwell.us/gamow.html</a>

In Jewelc's photos, 1 of 63 <a href="http://www.cardwell.us/GAMOW/dscn0377.html" target="_blank">http://www.cardwell.us/GAMOW/dscn0377.html</a> shows (l to r) Richard Carrier, Bill Schultz, unknown, Lynne Schultz, and Clark Adams holding the Infidels sign.

2 of 63 <a href="http://www.cardwell.us/GAMOW/dscn0379.html" target="_blank">http://www.cardwell.us/GAMOW/dscn0379.html</a> shows (l to r) Richard Carrier, Bill Schultz, Lynne Schultz, and Clark Adams holding the Infidels sign.

14 of 63 <a href="http://www.cardwell.us/GAMOW/dscn0391.html" target="_blank">http://www.cardwell.us/GAMOW/dscn0391.html</a> shows (l to r) the left hand of an unknown in a brown jacket, Bill Schultz, Richard Carrier, Lynne Schultz, and Jenn Adams (wife of Clark Adams) holding the Infidels sign.

As you can see, Richard is young looking guy working on his doctorate in Ancient History at Columbia University.

OMG! I can't believe how young Richard Carrier is. No offense, but I always imagined an old dude. Oops! my bad!

What I found odd was the "related links" at the bottom of the articele. Related to... what?

You know, when I saw the march with several thousand atheists, agnostics and free thinkers, and a peripheral fringe of 50 or so ranting fundies, I even said to my wife that I bet any press coverage is going to give half the time to the fundies. Maybe due to the thin press coverage in general making me see bias anyway, I think that is obvious in the couple of news items that made it into the Washington Post and Washington Times.

Incidentally, did you see my favorite ranter? At one point my wife and I walked to the little snack shop on the Mall across the street from the Air and Space Museum to cop a little hot cocoa. Directly across the Mall on the corner of 14th St. was some guy ranting away with a zipper-bound Holy Bible held aloft. He just went on and on. My wife was impressed, but I pointed out that it's easy to drone on incessantly when your brain isn't actually engaged.

On the left, in the jeans, leather jacket and shades, awkwardly holding the SecWeb sign, is yours truly.
(the little sign in the other hand says "Atheist and I Vote!")

I'm also in this one <a href="http://www.cardwell.us/GAMOW/dscn0395.html" target="_blank">http://www.cardwell.us/GAMOW/dscn0395.html</a> (photo 15 of 63 on jewelc's site)

So that was you! I remember I asked but couldn't remember. Good to meet you - belatedly.

So it was you, galiel!

The next time someone criticizes your participation here (if they do) I will think "Yeah, but he was at GAMOW holding the Sec Web banner. Were you???"

I surfed all of the cable news channels Saturday and Sunday, didn't see a thing until 9:48 last night. The CNN ticker had a 7-8 word sentence. That's it.
The pumpkin gut battle in Michigan was more newsworthy?
Weren't they kind of forced to do the march on Saturday? The originally requested date was turned down. If something was to be drowned out of the news, election weekend would be the time.

That's 'cause anything snuggly-wuggly about the weather beats real news any day of the week (one of my perennial frustrations, being a professional atmospheric scientist, is that none of this sort of crap has anything in the least to do with meteorology...and you constantly hear about it anyway...but I digress.) I'm surprised Headline News didn't put the stupid caterpillars ahead of the sniper and the election---let alone the GAMOW.

The GAMOW will be shown on C-Span 2 at 3:35 AM eastern time tomorrow morning. That's 12:35 AM for those of us on the west coast.

Set those VCR's!
