Is there a Skeptics Annotated Koran?
That's when I realized I didn't believe in God. When I told my mom she went into that whole I can't believe this, started blaming herself for not raising me right. She told me to read the Koran to see the other side but she never forced it on me. She'd only do that when I'd make statements aganist Islam. So I did that and pointed out to her some rather nasty passages.
This is from the first post of a young member in the "Atheists "testimony"" thread in the SLS forum. I don't know if this is the appropriate forum to ask, but I've surfed the net and haven't found any site similar to the SAB that pertains to the Koran. Can anyone direct me to one? I want to understand this religion more and reading the translated Koran, like reading the Bible, is only one side of the story. |

People who write skeptically about the Koran usually use pseudonyms and hire bodyguards to protect them from the fundamentalist fatwahs.
Two books that might help: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0825424003/internetinfidelsA" target="_blank">Unveiling Islam</a>, written by Ergun Mehmet Caner and Emir Fethi Caner, two Turkish brothers who converted from Islam to Christianity <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0879759844/internetinfidelsA" target="_blank">Why I am not a Muslim</a> by Ibn Warraq (a pseudonym) Ibn Warraq is also the editor of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1573927872/internetinfidelsA" target="_blank">The Quest for the Historical Muhammad</a> |
