If you leave a child...
A recent conversation with a believer lead me to bring up this topic. If you leave a child alone on an island (assuming that the child could survive) and this child knew nothing of the outside world and has been taught nothing, will the child automatically assume religion? I think not. So somewhere along the lines of history, someone had to implant in someone else's brain that there was in fact a god. This rather perplexes me though, because where would all of the scriptures of the many religions of the world originate? What inspired the authors of these scriptures? If you have any suggestions in which this can be explained, please post a reply.

The child would start to worship the sun, and other forces of nature essential to life. Over many generations, this worship of the sun will evolve into personal deities.

A more important question is
Would you take such a child's opinion on god seriously? |

I don't think he would start with monotheism, that's for sure.
His "gods", if he developed any that is, would be more like pagan gods. If he would worship them depends. He might, when hearing thunder/seeing lightning think that whatever causing this is angry and therefore a living being. This might lead to worship. Another thing that will probably fuel this "relationship" is his complete isolation from other humans. Quote:
