Default Reims-Douay Bible...

What is the significance of the Reims-Douay Bible? Anybody up on it and the region and the socio-political shenanigans that were going on at the time to result in the publication?

General breakdowns or specific deconstruction welcome from all "sides."

Merci.

Sidenote: My girlfriend's family has only one bible for all of them, an antique Douay-Rheims bible, and it's pretty much gathering dust since no one reads it. It's no point reading the bible if one's catholic, what the priest tells them about the bible is all they ever need.
