adan (aw-dan') is Hebrew and menas ‘to be soft or pleasant’,

`Eden (eh'-den) is Hebrew, is from `adan', and means ‘pleasure’.

Eden is a short of the Hebrew ‘gan eden’ while Hebrew ‘gan’ is a ‘garden’. ‘gan eden’ is The ‘garden of pleasure’ or the ‘garden of joy’.

The Sumerian counterpart to the Hebrew ‘Gan Eden’ is ‘Til-mun’ or ‘Dilmun’.

An Encyclopedia of Archetypal Symbolism writes: "The first known account of a paradisial garden appears on a cuneiform tablet from ancient Sumer. Here we learn of the mythical place called Dilmun, a pure, clean, bright place where sickness, violence, and old age do not exist. At first this paradise lacks only one thing: water. Eventually this is provided by the Sumerian water god, Enki. At once, Dilmun is transformed into a garden of fruit trees, edible plants, and flowers. Dilmun, however, is a paradise for the gods alone and not for human beings, although one learns that Ziusudra (= Utnapishtim, the Sumerian counterpart of Noah) was exceptionally admitted to the divine garden."

This Utnapishtim is from the Gilgamesh epic.

The ‘Garden of Joy’ is a symbol, not to find as a historic location. I have written here often about this symbol. No one of any reason makes investigation finding the wonderland of Cinderella. Eden or Dilmun is holy. No location is holy. Eden and Dimun is today as holy as in all times. It is a pure holy place, were two people lay down, as Enki and Ninelly in the old Sumer. Not to find with the mind.

Who is it, who knows that nobody can ... ? Waiting is a process in time using dead thoughts of the mind. Rational thinking of the mind using GPS and ancient maps lead not to holy places, because a rational mind has no knowledge about holiness. The holiness must exist in the self in order to recognize the holiness of 'Gan Eden'/'Tilmun'/'Dilmun' beyond all time and history and historic places from death memories in the mind.
