So wait a second. Emotional IS heathen dawn? Why the name switch all of a sudden?

Emotional has ceased to exist. It seems his fears were warranted.
Just kidding. I joke only because I sympathize 100% with his fears. Jamie |

And I like the name Heathen Dawn. It has a wild, poetic air to it. I like the word "heathen" because it's common to both atheists and pagans, and I like "dawn" because I think it's the most beautiful part of the day. |

As one who has tangled with emotional:
So now you're rational, and atheist, as opposed to non-rational and theist? What happened? Rene |

Heathen Dawn originally (at least originally for as long as I've been around) posted under that name-he only took the tag 'emotional' when he decided that his death fears were getting the better of him.
Personally, I too like Heathen Dawn better than his forced-theist-alter-ego. I like his rewriting of the pagan quarter calls, and have actually used them myself. Perhaps this whole episode allowed him to get it out of his system, so to speak...anyway, as emotional I have rarely seen a more consistent attitude ("Don't ask me-I'm not a rational person") Welcome back, Heathen Dawn, and all the best in your rediscovery of the joys of self-honesty! |

There's nothing like a little religion to make you a confirmed atheist. It's like getting your inoculation against irrationality.

I wish emotional well in his travails. If atheism works for him---fine with me. The real problem is his very strange fear of death however.
No rational theist can understand such an irrational fear of death-------so it is very hard to commiserate with such emotions. I mean -------think about it----for an atheist an endless sleep? For a theist an endless paradise? ----------all the good nookie, all the good booze, the best food and entertainment imaginable for eternity------such a deal. And a never ending changing. Whatever you want for eternity (give or take a few of God's scruples)----that is what you get. Forever and ever. Can't really lose either way. (of course I guess you all realize by now that I personally do not believe in a fire and brimstone hell.)----------so that is not an option. |

Good and Bad Reasons for Believing by Richard Dawkins So I decided I wanted to return to the club again. I mean the club of the evidential, scientific worldview. If I am to be an outsider, let me be an outsider on Christianforums or Theologyweb, not here. Here is my true home of like-minded people. (added) I read Dawkins' article really thoroughly. I so liked it on my first reading of it, that I decided to translate it into Hebrew for the Jewish Secularism website I work with. That way the article sank in and had its effect. |
