Post Uriel's Machine

I am reading a book called Uriel's Machine. In it the authors claim - among other things - that a worldwide flood occured after a comet broke into at least 7 pieces and landed in the world's oceans over 9KYA. They also claim that the Freemasons have managed to preserve some of the advanced knowlege from the era prior to this event (i.e. stonehenge). They cite frequently from the book of Enoch, an to other referenced of Enoch made in the bible and scholars such as Josephus.

My first impression is to rank it right up there with "Chariots of the Gods". They do cite several research articles and put forth a credible sounding thesis, they even claim that they spent 20 years reseaching this book. Still, I get the impression that many of thier conclusions were drawn in advance. So far it is an interesting read, in spite of being rather far fetched.

Does anyone have any impressions or familiarity with the authors or thier works?

Cool

Sounds a bit like Velikovsky...

That combined with the fact that the Freemasons didn't EXIST 9000 years ago.... makes the work highly suspect in itself.

(I'm thinkin your 'Chariots of the Gods' comparison is pretty accurate.)

These guys have written several books, mostly about the Masons (The Hiram Key) I think it is fantasy to think the Masons have existed as a continuous organization for more than a few huindred years.
I also have the book but haven't read it yet. But it does sound very Velikofskyish

Not to mention problems with a world wide flood such as insufficient water, and that fact that Masonic knowledge just isn't that impressive.

Thier claims about the flood have to do with supersized tsunamis (spawned by comet fragments hitting the oceans) inundating entire continents. Then they use segements from ancient flood legends as though they are eyewitness accounts, even though the supposed event took place thousands of years prior to the legends. The authors do however demonstrate the striking similarities between the epic of gilgamesh and noah. In an amongst their outlandish conclusions there is some interesting history.

The biggest problem I have with the book are people being duped by their bizarre claims.

Heh, I myself have read a book on the mysteries of Freemasonry, it's Holy Blood, Holy Grail. I remember being convinced by it back then.

Question

Quote:

As it's widely accepted nowadays that the Noah myth is a direct rip-off of the Ut-Napishtim myth: how do the authors present the similarities as "striking"?
