As I said in another message, when your troops don't obey your orders your control is hanging by a thread.

They had to bring in distant troops that had been confined and fed propaganda for days in order to put down the demonstration.

That was before the internet. The true story would spread *MUCH* faster these days. It's likely the distant troops would know the real situation. Once the memory of Tianamen Square fades enough it will probably happen again and this time it will succeed.
