Fastfalcon,

You're back. Excellent.

I'm glad you don't really want me to spend eternity as a briquet.

And I don't really want to insult you.

So, are you down with Kosh's bet or not?

Helen posts that "the kingdom is coming soon" refers to the more or less immanent death of every individual human being. I have a bone to pick with that, as would any serious student of Christian Scripture.

From what can be inferred from the texts, the earliest Christians were clearly motivated by the sense of a Second Coming that was to occur within the lifetimes of some of them at least. That did not come to pass.

One can argue that these people were mistaken, that the real message we are to take from the Scriptures is that we all must individually prepare to meet our Maker and that none can tell when that time might come. But one can't argue that that's what the earliest Christians either believed or wrote.

Agreed. I've seen some christbots in my time, Fastfalcon, but you make them look quite normal in comparison.

Well, I just trust God to rapture us believers when He is ready. You know, Jesus' followers did say what kind of people would occupy the last days...

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 Tim 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2 Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

2 Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2 Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

2 Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2Ti 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

2 Ti 3:9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all [men], as theirs also was.

Do you know anybody with these kind of personalities? When you watch the news, do you see and of these personalities manifested? And no, I am not mentally retarded.

Yes, but it's nothing new, Fastfalcon. There have been people like this for time immemorial. So I don't understand why the fact that there are still people like that now has any significance to your end times prohpesies.

What is the point in arguing with athiests? They ask for evidence of the existence of God when they should know that the evidence is right there in front of them!! I guess they do not have enough faith to just take the bible as the truth. Sure there are lots of strange things (Red Sea parting, people healed without medicine, etc) but God can do all of that!

And there is evidence of the existence of God. Just look in the mirror. Do you honestly think that a bacterium can evolve into a person in 4 billion years?? a mathematician calculated how long it would take for a bacterium to randomly evolve into a human and the result was about 40 billion years! So if God did not exist, then we would be still be some kind of virus. (that is assuming that evolution theory is fact). Also, what about the trillions of things in the universe? Do we really think that molecules can form into so many things in such a short time (15 billion years) randomly?
I point to that as evidence of the existence of our Lord God, who made the heavens and the earth. If that doesn't do it for ya, I don't know what will.

I did not say that!!

I said that I don't see how 'the kingdom is coming soon' imparts useful information to me beyond the knowledge that my own death is imminent anyway.

Evidently you misunderstood me.

In proving we are in the last days, Fastfalcon compellingly posted:

Incontinent?

Does this mean the AntChrist will be in Depends? I knew he was a poopy-pants.
