Post Foundations of Faith and Beliefs

To give you some background:
Quote:
From Me: (Originally): ...Athiests try to AVIOD god, and think of ways to live morally and just WITHOUT god. It would be quite strange for a prophesy to put importance on people who either a.) try to falsify such prophesies or b.) don't even care and are not related to such writings at all. Still, someone could write whatever they want about atheists, but it doesn't make them true.
Quote:
From MrDarwin: Quite the contrary, from the testimony I've seen from atheists and agnostics who post here, many of them quite consciously sought God, but failed to find him/her/it. Others were quite certain at one time that they had found God, but later decided they were mistaken.

As an agnostic, I continue to seek whatever god(s) there may be--because I want to know the truth about the world around me--but so far I'm coming up empty-handed.
Quote:
Also from Me (as a reply): Many athiests (and similar) (like myself) (due to their religious expieriences) try to seek a life that has moral and ethical "rightness" without the existance of a higher power. Many philosophers (and theologans, esp.) have based their beliefs and systems based upon the existance of God, and say that man is useless (or in anyway inferior) without him/her/it.
My question to y'all is:
For most athiests and theists (maybe yourself in particular): What do you try to find in your religious/non-religious 'journey' (I hate that word, but I don't know what else to say) and how do you go about doing it? (and why and when and whatnot...) Using the given background above, as well as other quotes from above, please give me your answer to what you (or others) find in religion and or non-religion.

Hard to say I'm on a "journey" since I have *always* been an atheist. I have never had the slightest flicker of a sincere god-belief.

I simply like to educate myself on religion to better understand the religious mindset, to better understand religious art and music (which I love), and just for the intellectual challenge.

I am neither avoiding nor searching for God. He/She/It doesn't exist.

What's there to find ?

I prefer to live in reality rather then fooling myself thinking I live in a fantasy world.
